OK, I just took delivery today and there's not a snowflake to be found (Central NJ) but I've got some very favorable initial impressions. I stepped up from a 24" 5.5hp snow blower and this is just an order of magnitude improvement. I got this b/c my crew that REALLY clears the 300' driveway plus circle uses a 27" Poulan; I know, I read the label SO many times last year as it went by the mud room door.
First thing after the driver dropped it off, I notice it's labeled as a thrower not a blower. OK, I could have figured that out by reading the description on Amazon but it's different when you have a CRATE on the garage floor with that label.
Went together simply and OH MY GOD it uses SAE wrench sizes. THANK YOU. Even if the components came from the chicoms, at least American hands put the darn thing together. It's well made and here are a few suggestions that I have. I coated the bottom of the chute where it meets the thrower housing with antisieze grease as a belt-and-suspenders way of smoothing out the mechanism and hopefully to retard rusting since that's where a LOT of snow lingers when its parked in the garage. Also, my winter equipment seems to last forever b/c once it sits in the garage for a day or so, I hose everything metal but the exhaust with WD-40. It's amazing, displaces water right in front of your eyes and I've had NO rust on one blower for over five years AND I store it in an outside shed.
Hmmm, early October. Should be throwin' snow in a week and a half. ;-)
BTW, heck of a price from Amazon which included free shipping plus lift gate service. Outstanding!!!
Update...well it's still October and was I RIGHT ABOUT SNOW. ~4" of VERY heavy wet snow that froze overnight. This booger went through everything laying on the ground, ground through the County's very helpful ice dam at the end of the driveway and I was done in half the time of my previous model. While it is wider than the old one, I think it has more to do with how far this throws snow....it goes 'WAY OUT THERE
Great product, now that it's been tested.
