First of all, they were packaged and delivered quickly and securely. There is some assembly required but it was not difficult for me. Each piece is individually wrapped (chair back, seat, front legs, cross support). So assembly involves putting those four pieces together. All of the hardware and a special tool for assembly is included. You do need your own phillips screwdriver for attaching the seat cushion to the chair. I happen to have a cordless screwdriver which I found useful, but you could easily do it manually I would imagine. There are just four screws that require the screwdriver on the chair. The rest of the assembly is done with the special tool that is included. It took me about an hour to put the first chair together (learning curve), but the second one took about half hour. Pretty easy when all was said and done.
The chairs are elegant. Rich black leather seat and seat-back. Nice wood parts with a dark veneer on them. The chairs are sturdy without being too heavy and extremely comfortable. I am using them around my dining room table and kitchen table. I don't have a big kitchen or dining room, so these chairs are a good size, and by that I do not mean small, but just the right size it seems to me. Very pleased with my purchase.
